Apple Investigation: Science for K-1

A hands-on apple science unit for Kindergarten and 1st grade: label the parts of an apple, cut one open to explore the flesh, core and seeds, sequence the life cycle from seed to apple, and observe with all five senses. Students run a sink-or-float test, keep a class taste-test tally, read a picture graph, compare sizes without measuring, and read the nonfiction mini-book From Seed to Apple. Use it for an apple science week, a science center, or a fall family investigation day, with exit tickets to check understanding.
